August 12

This was our first full day in Quito, a city of about 3 million people and it sits at a 9000 feet elevation.  We spent the day getting oriented and walking around town, mostly looking for a place to rent a car that would seat eight. We were unable to find a rental available after looking and calling for most of the day.  We stopped at a really nice coffee shop, Karrah’s idea😁. But we came away, kind of frustrated by the end of the day because we couldn’t find a rental car.

We really wanted to find a car to take to Mindo, a very popular tourist attraction about 2 hours outside of Quito.   That night, Melody called our Airbnb host, Diego, and he recommended we get an Uber to take us to Mindo in the morning and take the city bus back to Quito that night.  That ended up working really well for us.
